"THE LION"............... written by Lorena Suarez

The Lion that lives in me

   thirsts with passion
      and unrivaled adventures to seek!

Tired of the monotonous beat of the drum
     roaring with a thunderous cry
       he refuses to follow suit
of those who've carved their marks in pursuit!

This lion cannot be tamed
a thousand deaths he has endured!

His heart is gold and scarred with hope
he ventures roads too hard to take
for others in his kingdom to even contemplate!

This Lion knows for he fears not
a million battles he has fought!

He's learned to live with friend or foe
     dispenses mercy without fault
        He's been injured many times
but refrains from vengeance often times!

His weakness lies beneath his skin
so full of love that lies within!

In all the jungles of the world
his roar is heard as he grows bold
nor age, nor fear, nor thought alike
to those who battle by his side!

This Lion knows that there's a way
when danger is present every day
he lives, he roars, he walks with pride
        a humble soul in paradise!

There's much to walk and much to see
a brand new Universe he foresees!

The seeds are sown
    the light has shone
and what it is can be undone
if not to change what's in the past
but to reinvent a life that lasts!

I went to my sacred Mountain.  It is my favorite place to meditate and have communion with God and Nature. Not surprising, it is the only place where I can really think clearly and put things in perspective.  There are no cars, no noise, no houses, just the fabulous array of elements that make a magical place, a place of peace, a place of reflection and a place of learning.

Thankfully, I am starting to understand a bit more about what to do with all my environmental worries.  The truth is that I’m just coming out of a bout with anger and fear about a lot of things.  I was angry because of our crippling economy, angry and fearful at all the injustices that I perceived were the result of a decaying political system, angry at the Government, angry because of the oil spill on the Gulf of Mexico, angry because most people don’t understand how important it is to change their ways so that we can inflict less harm on our planet, angry period!

Let me just say that as an act of desperation, I prayed and gave up.  It is so debilitating to concentrate on all the bad in the world! it is spiritually dwarfing to believe that this world does not function because it is in the hands of evil men or women and that
we are, but mere spectators in a horror movie!  A nagging thought kept creeping up in the back of my mind, behind every Government, behind any Corporation, behind every crooked politician, behind every Oil Giant, there are people!

People who have kids, grand kids, wives, husbands, mothers, fathers, people who breathe and people who love, cry, worry and yearn to be loved just like the rest of us.  Why do we become detached from our source and create barriers and make up things that distinguish us from one another and belittle us as human beings?

Maybe things aren’t the way we make them out to be.  I know there could be powerful arguments to the contrary, but what if maybe, maybe the answers to many poignant questions that afflict us today are already there, we just can’t see them because we are looking elsewhere.  We are all part of one another, no matter what our beliefs, our race, our differences; we are all part of the One.  If we understand that inside each one of us resides a sacred divinity that has always been, my God! we can start getting it together.

We have all created the type of world in which we live, each one of us.  The Oil companies sell the Oil but we drive the cars, Corporations are greedy but we form them not extraterrestrial beings, they are comprised of people, we, us! Governments make the rules but we are the people that form Governments, they are not the devil himself.  Behind every single act, good or bad that has existed and affected humanity is a human being, other than a Natural disaster.

Mercy, Mercy Me/Marvyn Gaye

"We have given up our sacredness already and believe that everything going on in the world is external from us and out of our control.  Which brings me back to my sacred Mountain, I am walking a path and I have a choice and I understand that the road to Redemption is through Sacrifice, but is it really Sacrifice or is it Surrender?" ...........      I love.

A Path with Reverence!

It has been a few months since I sincerely lost touch with what it is that I wanted to accomplish by being an Environmentalist and a Project Coordinator for the Living Earth Ecological Group.  When I started, I had an unparalleled level of commitment, an overflowing amount of passion and a feeling of contentment to associate with environmentalists and to work on the project to build an Eco Community to educate people to respect and live in harmony with our Mother Earth.

I made contacts with great people, important people in the fields that are significant, such as Solar, Wind, Renewable Energy, Sustainability, Organic Gardening, Environmental Activists, and then......, I got sidetracked! I lost my path.  I worked so hard to build these relationships, these contacts and the knowledge I gained, and then..........?
One thing happened; the crunch of social, economic and geopolitical problems that plague our every day life started affecting me, really affecting me.  In the scheme of things I was asking myself, how important is it to get off the grid? or to plant an organic garden? or to install a windmill? when all around us our economy is dissolving, great natural disasters are happening, Countries are crumbling, people are dying in wars, drug addictions amongst our youth are growing at an alarming rate!  Our way of life is no more, at least not the way it used to be!  This dilemma shook my very core.  To reconcile the idea that working as an environmentalist in today’s world can make a difference.  Really?

I am asking more powerful questions now, how can I make a difference, how can our group The Living Earth make a difference?       I suppose that if I understand that this world crisis is very much a part of a Universal plan to align all of us, humanity with the animal and natural kingdoms, as painful and hard as the horrors, trials and tribulations we're going through today are, then it’s clear that this never ending succession of disasters can make sense.  How else were we going to change? How can we really learn to live in unity with our surroundings? How else can we appreciate anything in our natural world if it doesn’t explode with earthquakes or tsunamis? How dare we change the purity of our Oceans by polluting them by our greed for oil? Why do we risk poisoning our Earth with plutonium just because using Nuclear power is “financially viable”?.......How can we respect the animal kingdom and our Mother Earth if we were taught to believe that we are the supreme beings, amongst other beings, and that we can act with impunity when we trash our planet, kill each other and abuse and slaughter our animals, just because we are humans!

However we may want to call it, the Universe is teaching us a lesson! that no matter how advanced our technology and our knowledge is, we are no match against the fury of Mother Earth, and I thank God for that!  Still, seeing so much suffering hurts me, it affects me because I love all beings, I love everything that is and I’m at a crossroad where I am learning that the first thing I have to do in order to go on, even in the midst of disastrous events, is to walk a path with reverence!   ............

To be continued!
